Not sure why programming language creators feel the need to reinvent the wheel all the time. You can’t tell me that „var foo int = 12“ is in any way superior to „int foo = 12“. Hell, it speaks for itself when the authors immediately offer a second syntax (foo := 12) for the same thing because how inconvenient it is.
